Structure
In Fuscaldo (Cosenza), between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the mountains of the Sila. A Casa Vecchia Restaurant and B&B is found in the outskirts of Scarcelli, on the Cosenza coast, part way up the mountain (175 meters above sea level). Perfectly located 5 minutes from the sea and 15 minutes from the mountains.
Its serene location makes this one of a kind B&B perfect for those who want a peaceful, tranquil vacation. The building was originally a cottage dating back to the 1800’s. It was then used as a mill and then, following the building of the highway (the SS18) it became a rural farm.
It remains a testimony to the natural architecture of the Fuscaldo area as a typical Calabrian rural building used in the past as a warehouse or depot for the production of local agricultural products.
Of particular importance are the portals and doorways made of tufa (porous limestone rock formed from mineral springs). The curved arches of the windows, also in tufa , create an aesthetically pleasing exterior. The rock used for this structure was drawn, centuries ago, from existing local caves.
This well preserved masonry, constructed from local stone, has existed in its current location since the early 1800’s and represents the typical structures of Fuscaldo and of Calabria in general.
This property has been completely restored to its original splendor. The external and internal restoration of this building has brought back to life the ancient masonry technique known as opus incertum (stonework using irregular shaped and randomly placed uncut stones or fist-sized tufa blocks).
Restaurant

The restaurant began as a hobby in 1990 and remains family run. We take great care and pride in the meals we serve. We use only locally produced goods such as wines, salamis, olives and hand picked porcini mushrooms.
The place inside, it' is available a maximum of 65 person.
To the outside there is a wide balcony that is at clients' disposal in the moments of relax and it is also used, in the summer time, to have lunch or to dine outside and purely genuine.
Services
All rooms have a private bathroom, heating, air conditioning, T.V. and a safe for valuables. For our guests, we have a pool (10 X 5) that can be reserved for private functions upon request. There is also a nearby soccer field.
